Review for Pug Hearts Houston Pug Rescue, Alvin, TX, USA
There are so many things that can be said about this rescue. It is hard to even figure out where to start. Since birth (literally) my family and I always took in the wandering dogs around the neighborhood. Long before there were rescues we did our best. I, like others, had tried to volunteer for other rescues. It just was never the right fit. Then one day PugHearts came across my life. I thought back on my other experiences and battled with myself if I even wanted to try again. I decided to go to one of the fundraising events and the rest was history. I met, in that one day, some of the most amazing people. At the time I was not in a position to foster, but I had time. When there would be a post on Facebook needing transport or home visits or just about anything I would put myself out there. I would go to the larger events because since I did not have a foster I did not want to be under foot. The more I went to events the more people I met. Watching on Facebook the love and dedication everyone had was amazing. I have seen volunteers have personal issues and this group has come to their aide. Not only to help their fosters but to help the human as well. They have shown up at homes to help clean them out after floods. They rallied together during Harvey to help human and animals get to higher ground. They have been called because someone saw a dead pug on the side of the road and a volunteer has run right out and retrieved the dog. These poor animals that have been were left on the side of the road like garbage were taken to be cremated giving them some sort of final dignity. I have watched as they have traveled hundreds of miles and come back with vans full of pugs. They have offered their time to help other rescues that just needed bodies because their load was so large. They have put together weddings and birthday parties. Given a shoulder to cry on or a bed to sleep in. The moto is any pug, any age, any condition, any time. What they don't tell you is they do the same for the human as well. This is not just a rescue this is a family. And when the time was right I was able to foster and fail. If it was not for this great group of people I would never have met my devil child Daphne, and she may never have been able to have a home. So if you have the time come visit an event. Meet the the people and most importantly meet the pug. You never know how that one encounter could potentially change your life. I know they have certainly changed mine.
