Treat yourself to volunteering at Soi dog. It beats any luxury spa resort in terms of wellbeing.
From the minute you arrive you can feel the love from staff, volunteers and especially the many dogs in their care.
I have just paid my third visit in the past 4 years and time spent there is never enough.
For newbys the day starts with a tour by one of the very professional and friendly staff followed by a film giving a history of Soi dog. You will then be allocated a run where your role as a volunteer is to socialise, walk and generally enjoy your time with your dogs. There is a lake to walk each individual dog on a lead and a new addition of an off lead area, which the dogs love.
Each run has its own keeper who attends to their every need in terms of keeping the runs clean and the dogs, feeding and watering. It's heartwarming to see them clipping the nails, checking their ears and administering to their needs.
For me it was great seeing a state of the art clinic up and running which has every facility needed for the care and rehabilitation of sick dogs and also meeting up with friends who are just as devoted as 4 years ago.
I also love hanging out in the 2 air conditioned cat 'cafes' at the end of each day.
All in all a joyful experience
