Review for Habitat For Safe Seniors Inc, Canyon Lake, TX, USA
HFSS claims to have many programs in existence that they no longer operate. They do not offer repairs, clean-up, or ramp installations to seniors anymore. They have the supplies and volunteers but they no longer schedule these services.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
watching seniors become ill from the outdated food that is distributed.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Replace Executive Director with someone that would follow the mission of the organization. The Board of Directors does not direct the Executive Director nor do they follow what the organization is actually accomplishing.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Learning how not to run a nonprofit.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
good hearted. Most don't stay very long after they see how the organization is operating.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
follow its mission
Ways to make it better...
I had not seen all of the waste that occurs there. Food that cannot be distributed is thrown away. The "partner" of the Executive Director, who is the Director of the BoD, hauls the trash away so that no one knows the amount of food being discarded.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The Board of Directors and the Executive Director
One thing I'd also say is that...
The Executive Director, Rondah Savage, owns the property that she is leasing to HFSS. This is not disclosed on the 990 form. She also rents one of the buildings to a couple and is pocketing that money instead of paying HFSS. VERY corrupt organization.
