I came here for what was called the Border Awareness Experience program. I would have to be honest, at first I really was not interested in immigration, and only came down for the credit with my school. Although, my life was changed forever after I met the Women's Intercultural Center staff, and specifically their new Interim Executive Director Saif Almuhairbi. Saif is truly an inspiration to all of those he speaks to. Not only is he very knowledgeable about immigration, and I was able to learn so much from him, but Saif also inspired me towards becoming an immigration attorney but also advocating for my community. If you have the opportunity to come down for this experience, seriously TAKE IT, the program changed my life and being able to meet the participants at the Center, meet with judges and attorneys at the courthouse, take a Border Patrol Tour on the border, and the opportunity to sit and talk with Saif truly was incredible. Thank you to the Women's Intercultural Center for this experience and I will definitely be back to Anthony. Saif, please continue the incredible work you do, and thank you for being so open with me and helping me tackle some of my fears.
