Review for The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic, Baltimore, MD, USA
This clinic was the best internship experience I could have chosen. When I first heard of it and applied, I wasn't sure what to expect, or if I would be able to fit in with the team and clinic's work for 2 whole months. From the first day I arrived, the entire staff made me feel welcome and asked me lot of questions about my schooling and how I liked Nicaragua. From helping me with my Spanish, to explaining about the communities, I soon felt complety part of the team. The doctors and nurses are extremely skilled, and work with so much less resources than we have back home, that inevitably I learned so much, that I know I will remember forever. Apart from consultations, I got to experince a little of their other projects, such as Diabetes Club which takes place in surrounding villages, and a Nutrition/Food distribution program, which really highlights the impact this clinic has for the entire region. The coordinator Emmanuel and head doctor Dra Ruiz were constantly checking up on me to see if I needed anything or had any questions, and were also extremely accomodating with my academic and family needs. The experience of living and working in a new place can be challenging, but when you get to spend 8 weeks with amazing people, the time really flies by. I will miss the team so much and know I will be back for a future visit! Muchas gracias para todos, y hasta luego ;)
