Review for Anne Arundel County Literacy Council, Inc., Annapolis, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Jane Seiss and the other leaders of the Anne Arundel County Literacy Council do a marvelous job on what amounts to a shoestring budget! Talk about getting tremendous "bang for your buck," Jane and her colleagues probably invented the phrase! The organization does wonderful work in the community! They are to be commended and emulated!

AACLC is an outstanding organization dedicated to the proposition that every adult in Anne Arundel County is entitled to an opportunity to read and write effectively. I have now tutored three adult students, one of whom is on the verge of achieving a high school diploma at the age of 60! Still, I believe that AACLC has helped me at least as much as I have helped my students. It is so gratifying for me to see them improve each week. The leaders of this fine organization are to be commended and congratulated!

The Anne Arundel County Literary Council does an amazing job of preparing adult students to receive their high school diplomas and to become better, more capable and more educated members of society . The organization provides all study materials, essential coaching for tutors, and necessary support and expertise for hundreds of students and volunteers throughout the county. This lean non-profit is to be commended for delivering excellence on a shoestring budget!

Both its executive director, Lisa Vernon, and the entire staff of the Anne Arundel County Literacy Council (AACLC) do a splendid job of supporting the important work of the scores of volunteer tutors striving to improve the reading, writing, math and English skills of low-income and out-of-school youth in our Maryland county. I retired one year ago and I find that working with my student is highly, highly gratifying. People often say how wonderful it is that I am helping my student to improve her literacy. However, I believe this work is equally rewarding to me personally. The AACLC deserves all the credit. They do a marvelous job.
