Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA
To commence with, I am Joshua Anzagra Dery, a student of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in the Northern Region of Ghana. I am currently in my final year of a six-year Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science. It is said that a journey of thousand miles begins with a step. I took that bold step six years ago when I decided to go to the university despite my financial situation at home. I knew this was the boldest step I could ever take knowing so well the struggle I put myself and my parents through. Before I started my six years’ journey, I seemed to be thorn between the devil and the deep blue see. After the decision was made to further my education, not too long after that I met my first hurdle. I was at the edge of calling it quit until the timely intervention of Educational Pathways International (EPI) and showed me light at the end of the tunnel.
Growing up as a young boy, my parents inculcated in me very enviable values; hard work, diligence and perseverance to say the least. I knew my roots and I understood perfectly the need to excel. When I got enrolled on the EPI scholarship program, I knew that all my burdens had been lifted off and taken away from me. This was because I started my tertiary education on a shaky note, with so much to think of and worry about, to say the least. EPI was my hope when I thought all hope was lost. They gave me a comprehensive scholarship. At that point I felt that I had no other burden in the world and that I was free to soar so high like an eagle. An enormous burden had been lifted from the shoulders of my parents.
I have also been a very active student leader. I am currently the Student Representative Council (SRC) Deputy Secretary, UDS. Also, I am the secretary of the beneficiaries of Educational Pathways International (EPI) scholarship in my university. In addition, I served as Vice President for Pax Romana Choir and Legio Mariae at the University for Development Studies (UDS). As part of my academic achievement, I represented my class in an inter-departmental quiz competition and emerged as the winner. With the assistance from EPI through the organization of seminars, I have been able to achieve all these as extra curriculum activities aside my academic work.
I want to express my profound gratitude to Educational Pathways International (EPI). They always keep me on my toes and make me very focused on my studies. This has helped me excel in every field I find myself in.
I chose my programme of study because I realized due to sheer ignorance and unavailability of clinics, testing centers and the inability to properly diagnose diseases, the people of my community were dying of easily preventable and curable diseases. I can boldly say that my dream of giving back to my society is almost accomplished, with all thanks to the Almighty God and to EPI. In view of this, I plan to set up several diagnostic centers in my community to not only help to properly diagnose and treat diseases, but to also educate them on the need to make their health a priority and maintain basic personal hygiene. I am strongly in agreement with the quote, “Making one person smile can change the world. Maybe not the whole world but their world” and to me that is very important.
I want to express my deepest thanks to Educational Pathways International and remain appreciative for the support I received throughout my university education. I will never forget your support and kindness. I am eternally grateful. Thank you.

To begin with, I am Joshua Anzagra Dery, a student of the University for Development Studies in the northern Region of Ghana. I am currently in my fifth year and I am pursuing Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science. It is said that a journey of thousand miles begins with a step. I took that bold step five years ago when I decided to go to the university despite my financial situation at home. I knew this was the boldest step I could ever take knowing so well the struggle I put myself and my parents through. I made it through to my fourth year until the Covid-19 pandemic reared its ugly head in the entire globe. This affected the academic calendar of school because all schools were closed down. Later on lectures, assignments and examinations were done online so that we could continue with what we left off at school. Thankfully schools reopened for the new academic year in January 2021 and since then, school has returned to normal. We have returned to our classroom lectures and interaction with other students. And this is far better. I cannot end without expressing my profound gratitude to Educational Pathways International (EPI). They always keep me on my toes and make me very focused in my studies. This has helped me excel in every field I find myself in.

I am in the person of Joshua Anzagra Dery, a fourth year student of the University For Development Studies in the northern part of Ghana pursuing Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science. The value of education is something that I understood since at a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend High school and faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to instill in me love for formal education, learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication.
Because of their love and sacrifice over the years, I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to academic accomplishment even though money has always been a challenge. I remain grateful to Educational Pathways International (EPI) for the tremendous assistance granted to me throughout my university education through the comprehensive scholarship that I have been enjoying these past years. It makes me feel that I am not alone on the journey of accomplishing my educational goals.
Educational Pathways International (EPI) has caused a great change in my life and that of my family. All hope was lost along the line during my first year days in the university. To God be the glory, this hope was restored after joining EPI family. Without support from EPI, life would have been hell in the university. My mother being the ultimate provider of the family, depends solely on her pito brewery (a local drink) to help cater for me, my father and other siblings who are still in the basic school. The meagre income she gets from this business is channeled into paying of fees making life unbearable for her.
I must therefore admit that, since I joined EPI, things have changed for the better. I do not think of how to pay my fees, accommodation, books and I do not think of how to eat before and after lectures and there is no financial burden on my parents for my education. This has also had a great improvement on my academics and performance at school,
I am highly grateful to the sponsors of Educational Pathways International (EPI), for their enormous support by transforming my life and that of my family and for helping me to realize what has been a long term dream for me.

My name is Joshua A. Dery, a second year student of the University For Development Studies offering Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science. The value of education is something that I understood since at a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend a Secondary or High school and faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to instill in me a love for formal education, learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication.
Because of their love and sacrifice over the years, I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to academic accomplishment even though money has always been tight.
While I was constantly trying to find more work and searching for scholarships that will help me pay for my education, I remain grateful to find opportunities like the one Educational Pathways International (EPI) is providing to students. It makes me feel that I am not alone on the journey of accomplishing my educational goals.
Educational Pathways International (EPI) has actually transformed my life and that of my family life from misery to bliss. The little money my mother gets from her pito brewing (locally made drink) business and tailoring was channeled into paying my fees and upkeep. This made life hard for myself and my parents. Since the money was not always enough to keep me through the entire trimester and cater for my parents needs.
But since I joined EPI, things have changed for the better. I do not think of how to pay my fees, accommodation, books and I do not think of how to eat before and after lectures and there is no financial burden on my parents, as to how to keep me in school and how to provide money for my upkeep.
I am highly grateful to the sponsors of Educational Pathways International (EPI), for their enormous support by transforming my life and that of my family and for helping me to realize what has been a long term dream for me.
