I knew the moment that I stepped foot into the Thomas Burchell Baptist Memorial Church, that it would definitely not be my last.
My father, Ray Matteson, the founder and president of this amazing faith based foundation, was so moved that day by what his 4x great grandfather had done for the community of Montego Bay. You could see the Lord's work in his eyes. You could see and feel that he wanted to continue helping them grow and prosper just like Thomas Burchell. He started right away.
The Burchell Youth Development Foundation started with two scholarships and in this past year we have increased to 40! The way my father talks about this foundation, with such passion, commitment, love, and faith, I'm not surprised how far we have come.
This foundations end in mind is to empower the youth with faith and education, and I believe we are on the right path with help of our board of directors, volunteers, fund raisers, and donors.
We are so thankful and blessed.
