will never forget December 16, 2017. On that day, my 41 year old husband was admitted to our local ER after reporting several headaches. There, they did a CT scan and discovered hemorrhage and mild shifting on his brain. They transported him in an ambulance to Swedish Medical Center, where the medical staff confirmed he had a tumor the size of a small plum in his let temporal lobe.
The Neurosurgeon recommended an immediate surgery the next day. I was scared, confused, and after the surgeon explained what could go wrong during surgery, and was terrified.
He went under surgery for 5 hours and came out amazingly good. He was making jokes and demanding drinks! I knew he was back! However, the worse was to come. The surgeon was able to remove 99% of the tumor, it this was malignant tumor. We heard the most horrific words: You have brain cancer. Not only any cancer, but one of the most aggressive types: Glioblastoma stage 4.
Our world was turned upside down; I was devastated, upset, sad, and helpless. Life changes literally in a second, it is true. I was questioning how can this happen to a healthy, active, caring, good person? What have we done to deserve this? We had a very fun, active, and peaceful life, and now is worries and uncertainty.
14 months late, I am happy to report that my husband is doing extremely well. He is tolerating treatment and still enjoying sports and the outdoors.
