We lost our 12 1/2 year lab mix in September. Our neighbor told me about labrescuers.org and that when I was ready for another dog to look at their website. He and his wife are fosters and I met one of the dogs they worked with.
We started looking at pictures and stories of the dogs available to adopt.
Finally, we were ready and it was so easy to send our application and have a volunteer visit our home. We are impressed that the dogs are vetted carefully and fostered so their personalities and quirks are learned. Also, they vet the potential adopters.
We adopted "Chaz", who is now Luca, on Tuesday, Dec 5th. He had been rescued in Texas after the hurricanes. One of the labrescuers volunteers went to Texas and brought back 7 dogs who had been separated from their previous homes.
Luca is a beautiful, smart and loving boy. We have a lab rescuers volunteer coming to work with us on few things (training) and I know Luca will do well.
Thanks to the work of the volunteers we knew Luca would get along with other dogs and with our grandkids.
He was our early Christmas present. Thanks to Howard, Joanie, Karin, Michele and Hector for helping us find him.
