Review for Second Wind Fund, Denver, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Second Wind Fund is a truly inspiring organization. It says something very important, I think, that an organization that is so closely connected to particular communities garners volunteers from across the nation -- because we all see that SWF is doing something truly special. In a time when fewer and fewer people can afford adequate health care, SWF is directly ensuring that our vulnerable young people have access to care when they need it most. It has been an honor for me to be a small part of making such a big difference.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Being part of SWF has brought me a great deal of personal satisfaction. Being part of an organization where every participant is committed to directly, tangibly helping youth in need has been a true inspiration.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

It is a constant struggle to find funding to provide this desperately needed care to youth at risk. If I could, I would love to see SWF more fully funded.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being part of an organization where every participant is committed to directly making a tangible difference within a particular community.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing people who work incredibly hard for little or no pay, at night and on weekends and on tight deadlines. They are patient, generous and collegial -- the kind of people you most want on your team.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save even more lives. This is an organization that is all action -- directly providing help where it is needed most. No dollars are wasted in this endeavor. It would be 10 million bucks very well spent.

Ways to make it better...

SWF had more of the funding it desperately needs to continue to provide counseling to at-risk youth.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding, funding, funding. These are difficult times for all non-profits, and we are doing the very best we can to maximize resources.

One thing I'd also say is that...

it has been a pleasure and a privilege to meet the great people at SWF, and to see that there are smart, talented people who, when they put their minds to it and work together, can make a tangible difference in their community. Pretty inspiring.
