Review for Beacon House Association of San Pedro, San Pedro, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I came to the Beacon House seven years ago a broken man. In the throngs of drug addiction I had lost my home, friends, family and everything I held dear to me due to a life a drugs. I was a product of prison, and many a so-called rehabs, and was on my last legs. When I had no where else to turn, the Beacon House took me into the life. More than just a Rehabilitation center, the treated me like family, and not only gave me the tools I needed to fight my addiction, they taught me what it was to a normal member of society, a freind, a parent, a family member. The encoureged me to help others and gave time to get my life togther, and seek and education.....something that I never had before. The encouraged me to live out my dreams in the second chance at life I had been given. By following the directions, ideals, and values the house gave me(directions I still follow to this day) I was able to beat my addiction, and live a life I've always wanted to live. Now close to getting my masters degree in English, work at a community college, I am engaged to be married, and have a full wonderful life....one that includes family friends both new and old, and am a model peer to those I teach and hang out with.....none of this would be possible without the help and guidance of the Beacon House.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Ways to numerous to name.....all of them positive (see reveiw!).

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do nothing except to help keep it running as it has been for over thirty years.....

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

My new life they have given me, as well as the comradre of the clients and staff when I return to visit.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Like family and teachers: informed, friendly, loving, and helpful....

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Save more people like myself....

Ways to make it better...

Wouldn't change a thing.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The best of it's kind.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Client Served & Was saved and taught a new way to live life......
