Review for Labrador Rescuers, San Diego, CA, USA
Two weeks ago we welcomed Kona to our family. She's a beautiful labrador mix that Labrador Rescuers brought to San Diego from Houston. Kona was surrendered by her owner after Hurricane Harvey. I could not say enough good things about Labrador Rescuers and the great experience we had with them. They do an initial written assessment, followed by a thorough house visit. After that, the matching process begins to ensure that the dog finds the best possible family and vice versa. What impressed me the most about Labrador Rescuers is the genuine love and concern the volunteers have for the adoptable dogs. They don't want to just place a dog or convince you to take any of them. They want the best home for that dog and they strive to accomplish this. To this effect, the volunteers are very transparent about each dog, letting you know the good and some of the areas for improvement. I felt I could trust them.
I also liked that they are very good about ensuring that the dogs have been spaded or neutered, shots up to date, vet exams, etc. That gave me a lot of confidence that the dog we were adopting had been checked by a vet and I was aware of her health.
With our Kona we struck gold. She's terrific. She's full of energy, which we like, friendly as can be, loving and kind. She and our almost 2-year yellow lab get along very well and play and run. I can't but feel happy when I see them in the backyard running around or when every morning there are two beautiful faces waiting for me ready to start the day!
The volunteers I interacted with at Labrador Rescuers were professional, knowledgeable, kind, helpful. I actually would like to be a foster mom later on. I think the work these volunteers is very meaningful and worthwhile and hope to one day try it myself.
