Over the summer of 2013, I had the opportunity to stay with a family in Stok, Ladakh and volunteer at the Siddartha School project and residential hostel. The experience proved to be nothing less than life-changing. There was a brilliance of being immersed in a culture steeped in traditional Buddhist teachings — wisdom, kindness, and generosity abound! And not enough can be said of the most wonderful family that I stayed with who ultimately became my own. The respect for education and learning is palpable at Siddartha School and while as a volunteer you hope give more than you take (away), don't count on it!!
