Review for Assistance League of Kansas City, Gladstone, MO, USA
As a member of ALKC, I am most involved in the elementary and middle school Operation School Bell clothing programs. It is so rewarding to see the excitement each child feels when getting new clothes. Here are a few responses I have received from the middle school students/families:
• A student and his family who had escaped from North Africa said he was told that the people in the United States were nice people...and he said "that we were nice people."
• A woman who brought her children said she was so grateful...her home in Florida was destroyed during Hurricane Irma.
• A grandmother, who is raising 5 granddaughters on her own, said that she always took them to thrift stores to shop. She was so thankful for them to have new clothes and that it would make a difference for them!
• A..was so excited to choose her own clothes. She just kept giggling.
• 1st time in program. Love It! Thank you.
• M...is happy to have new clothes. We were unable to shop for back to school. Thank you all so much.
• Thank you so much. You can't believe how much this has helped my child feel.
• My daughter absolutely loves the opportunity - she gets so excited - her self esteem gets a boost!
• We thank you for your help. We are very grateful. Thank you.
• There was one student who came with his younger sister, also in middle school, and his mother. His mother did not seem to understand English. When I asked if they had come to shop last year, I got the biggest smile ever...when he said "no, we just came to Missouri!" His delight and the smiles of his sister and mother were replicated by so many families.
