Review for Leadership Initiatives, Washington , DC, USA
I have worked with Leadership Initiatives for a little over a year now as the Fundraising Chair for my schools IBIP team. We're partnered with a small soap making business in a rural Nigerian town. One thing that makes Leadership Initiatives amazingly unique is the connection that they have with the business partners. Participants of IBIP are able to Skype with their business partner (and a translator) which gives them a personal relationship that many other programs don't have.
Along with participating in the IBIP program, I also went to Washington, D.C. and participated in their International Leadership Business Summit. Similarly to IBIP, students are paired with business, given a set of problems that the business is facing, and at the end of the week students gave presentations in front of a panel of judges. Students were scored on a rubric and if the students were given a certain score, their business was given a $500 grant. ILBS is such an amazing program that gives students experiences and advantages that no other organization or program can even think of. When in D.C. we visited embassy's, toured the Supreme Court and other D.C. hot spots, spoke to college admissions officers, met with a professional college guidance advisor, and were able to work with experts in a variety of fields.
Leadership Initiatives very clearly cares about their students and does everything they can to give them hands on business experience and prepare them for the future. Being involved with Leadership Initiatives has been a life changing experience that I wouldn't give up for the world.
