Review for Center for Advancement in Cancer Education, Richboro, PA, USA
After being diagnosed with cancer, my mother turned to CACE for diet and lifestyle counseling to strengthen her body during chemotherapy. Susan was so generous with her time, and she really helped my mom to understand the way that her diet can improve her symptoms and ultimately make her body less desirable for malignant cells. Her cookbook, Hungry for Health, is a staple in our kitchen.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I've watched my mom transform her thinking about food. Once a conventional eater, she now understands the importance of clean, organic, unprocessed foods and the way these foods sustain health in the body.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
suggest that they focus on meeting patients where they are, figuratively speaking. Some patients are more open to "alternative" therapies than others, and it's important that patients don't feel too overwhelmed by the depth of this important information.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
their absolute dedication to educating patients about cancer, which is born out of a very personal experience of the founder.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
incredibly knowledgeable and experienced.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
GREATLY reduce cancer rates around the world, thus saving millions of lives.
Ways to make it better...
the initial consultation had been a bit more introductory. I think that it's so overwhelming for a person to learn that they have cancer, and then equally overwhelming to learn that they need to change everything about how they eat as well.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
similar to any non-profit --- getting their name and mission out there and doing the best work with minimal resources.
One thing I'd also say is that...
this organization has so much to offer to the prevention and treatment of cancer. I'm looking forward to watching them impact the lives of more cancer patients and their families.
