Review for The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO, USA
TWAS is truly an amazing place for the beautiful wild animals that find their way there, whether due to abuse, neglect or inappropriate situations; they are given a safe place to live in dignity and peace, and learn to trust humans rather than fear them. Those of us fortunate enough to visit the sanctuary can only gaze in awe at what has been achieved there! I feel very lucky to hear the stories of the residents, see them relaxed and enjoying their surroundings and also see what can be accomplished by people who are wholly committed to saving lives and allowing these animals to live as freely as possible, what a wonderful place.
Review for Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, UT, USA
I first heard about Best Friends back in the early 90's, and made it a bucket list place that I finally got to visit in 2007. It did not disappoint, they are an amazing organization and do wonderful work in giving hope, health, dignity and opportunities to animals who have been abused, neglected or just aren't wanted any more. I was more than impressed with them taking in Micheal Vick's dogs and getting them rehabilitated, new families for most and for just taking on that monumental task! They are at the forefront of animal advocacy, whether it is no kill, trap/neuter/release, puppy mills, adopting from shelters, etc., etc. They deserve all the respect in the world for their work; I was amazed to read the story of how the group got started and their humble beginnings. I also think they deserve props for opening satellite rescues around the country to help even more animals and allow more people to see and understand their work and help/volunteer. I can't say enough about this group, and anyone who visits the rescue in Kanab, Utah would agree in a heartbeat!
