Review for Orange County Rape Crisis Center, Chapel Hill, NC, USA
I've been a Community Educator at the Orange County Rape Crisis Center since 2008. I received extensive training from the Center on basic rape crisis information, responding to victims of sexual violence, and presentation skills. I now regularly present programs to elementary school students about "Safe Touches." We teach students that no one should touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable, and if something like that happens to them, they should follow the safety saying: Say No, Get Away, and Tell a Grown-up. It has been a joy to work with these kids. They're all so energetic and happy, and it is wonderful to know that I am making a difference in their lives. The Community Education team at the Center provides excellent support to volunteers to make sure we are comfortable with our programs. With their guidance and hard work, as well as the hard work of our volunteers, we are able to go to every elementary school classroom every year in both school districts in our county. And, the Center has recently added middle school programs as well as programs for children with disabilities. This remarkable direct impact on our community's children would not happen without the support and leadership of the Orange County Rape Crisis Center.

I have learned so much about sexual violence that I am happy to be a resource for friends & family, sharing my knowledge on confronting rape myths, helping a friend after experiencing sexual violence, and preventing and coping with child abuse.
