HCP is truly an extraordinary place. I see it in the laughter of children discovering the Play-Garden. And the delight of bird-watchers along the Riverwalk Sensory Trail. For me, it is the pleasure of watching families explore nature; from butterfly gardens to the pocket wetland, from land trails to water trails.

The park is a place for peaceful contemplation and joyful celebration. It is a gathering place. It is our wonderful big backyard.

From the time Native Americans cared for this land it has been a crossroads of transportation and knowledge. The Champlain Canal and Scenic Byway carry on those traditions here at HCP where history comes to life.

The park has bridged communities, built partnerships and forged friendships. Young people learn to be good stewards of our planet and folks of all ages find satisfaction in volunteering.

The park is a remarkable tribute to all who give tirelessly of their time and energy. It is a tribute to all who come to experience this extraordinary place.
