Review for Humanity For Children, Columbia, MO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Dear friends of Humanity for Children organization,
HFC helped the community of Ngoma district to connect and share experience with people from different cultures (cross-cultural experience) through sport activities and other social activities and through different skills which were not yet available in our community. Through this partnership, one health post was built in Gashanda Sector which is a remote area in Ngoma district and it is only health center ever existed in that big area. This Health center rescued people who used to walk more than ten miles to get medical services. Imagine if a woman travels that far after the labor starts; and also one Karama health center is under construction which will serve more than 80 000 people once it is completed.
In economic development, HFC supported many micro projects of both men and women in many parts of Ngoma district. There are groups of women who buy, keep, and sell food products when they are needed; there is bee-keepers project, many people benefit from livestock’s project initiated and supported by HFC. In brief, through different projects such commercial projects or economic activities, livestock’s projects, and agricultural projects, HFC transforms life of Ngoma Community to the extent that homeless people have bought their own homes, they send their children to school, they buy medical insurance for their families, and above all they have food to eat. As I write now, each family has at least a pig or got, even some of families bought cows for milk.

In education, I would like to highlight solar lamps’ project and school library. This project impacted the people in Gashanda who need lights in night. Providing a solar study lamp to students in Primary 6 grade they increase their joy and skills in reading before they take their national exam at the end of the year. The statistics are positive that the students’ scores and interest in reading are improved. These lamps help children improve their education, because they can do their homework, read while at home; and it also helped the local people to start a new Rotary Club—Mount Gisaka.

I would like to take this opportunity to honor and acknowledge the great changes Ngoma district has been experiencing in all areas of life since the presence of Humanity for Children in Eastern Rwanda where Ngoma district is located. I appreciate the time, resources, and skills that Humanity for Children is using to develop my community. HFC has challenged me with its dedication and courage which I have ever seen in my life.
