Working with the Creative Aging Network has been the most rewarding experience of my life. Being able to connect with people through art while they are in the last chapter of their life is both inspirational and eye opening. I look forward to each class that I can enrich someone’s life even for just an hour. Working with memory care individuals is exceptionally rewarding for me. Many of my residents were unable to direct themselves back to their own room, let alone remember my name, but they knew who I was and were so excited to see me each week knowing I was bringing them the opportunity to be creative and free. Being told each day that they are wrong and unable to be independent can be crippling, however when they are in the art classes they are never wrong. It is invigorating to watch and be apart of such a life changing program.
