I volunteer at Pet Project and work with the clients, the public and rescues. Without Pet Project many animals would go hungry, some might even be surrendered to shelters. Pet Project tried to assist those that need vet care and helps to rehome animals that can no longer be cared for by their owners. With just a few volunteers Pet Project stayed open during the start of the pandemic so that animals would have food to eat. The need has been overwhelming and our Director tries her very best that no animal goes without. Even though the work is hard I stay because it is a worthy cause.

I was first introduce to Pet Project for Pets because of the food they donated to a rescue that I volunteered at full time. I would be the one picking up the food donated by the rescue bank and I really got to see the effort that Pet Project, Sue Martino and the volunteers put out for the community. I decided that I wanted to be part of that effort and I also wanted to give back to Pet Project because of what they provided for my rescue. Well, its been a year and my 8 hour weekly obligation has grown but so have my friendships. Pet Projects has taken in animals found on their doorstep and found them homes, helped the homeless with feeding their animals and provided for vetting of very sick animals when the owners had no or little money to do so, provided foster care when an individual had to be hospitalized and had no one to turn to, found homes for animals when their owner passed and no one else cared. The list goes on and on!!! I can tell you that without Pet Project many of us would not be able to save and keep safe the animals we care for and about. I've been lucky enough to see the smiles on clients faces when they come to pick up their food and share their stories about their beloved pets. I'm a better person for volunteering there.
