Although what Modest Needs does is wonderful by itself, I think the most powerful part of the story is that by vetting requests, it allows a group of donors to give a small gift of cash that dramatically changes the trajectory of a family. Their study of outcomes from people that received a grant vs. those who didn't shows the effect. I wish they had more funding.
