I am fortunate to be associated with DVGRR as a volunteer, donor and most of all as an adopter. My three amazing rescues all came from DVGRR. Carlee a former puppy mill breeder was lucky to have been rescued young. She spent time in Project Home Life, a program developed by DVGRR to help puppymill and hoarding dogs adapt to life in a house. Carlee was ~3 when she came home, she is now getting close to celebrating her 13th birthday. Still a lucky girl and now a mentor to her brothers. Dudley was surrendered to the rescue by a breeder that didn’t want to pay for a surgery to save his life. Born with his abdominal organs in his chest cavity, DVGRR had the surgery and I brought home a happy, normal 4 month old mini Goldendoodle that has titles is several sports. Duddy is now 9 and still bringing home ribbons and new titles. Not to be out done by big (little) brother is Trooper. He was also surrendered to DVGRR by a farmer that didn’t want yo pay for a leg amputation due to a severe break. DVGRR once again stepped in, had the surgery done and I brought home a perfectly happy, normal golden puppy who just happens to be a tripod. Trooper was 7 weeks at the time of the surgery and has no trouble getting around. Following in Duddys footsteps, he has numerous titles and ribbons and enjoys swimming too. I can’t thank or express my appreciation to the staff and volunteers at DVGRR for the tremendous care and love they give these dogs. Truly an organization and staff devoted to saving “man/woman’s best friend”.

I have been a proud supporter, volunteer and adopter for a number of years. DVGRR has grown and continues to be innovative in the care and enrichment of the dogs in its care. My 3 are a testament to their high standards and excellent care of the dogs that are lucky enough to find there way to Golden Gateway. They truly deserve to be counted as one of the best nonprofit organizations in the country.

I adopted 3 of my dogs from Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue. 2 were adopted as puppies that were brought to a local veterinary hospital to be euthanized. Dudley was a 7 week old mini Golden Doodle pup that was born with his abominable organs in his chest cavity, the breeder didn't want the expense. The hospital contacted DVGRR and happily took him in and paid for the surgery. Today he is a healthy happy 7 year old with numerous performance titles in a host of venues. Trooper was also taken to the same hospital at 7 weeks with a severely broken left rear leg that needed amputation. Again DVGRR step in and paid for the surgery, today Trooper is a healthy, rambunctious normal 3 year old Golden Retriever with performance title in several venues. He has no clue he should have 4 legs and is one of the happiest dogs I've ever met. Carlee is a former puppy mill breeder who was lucky enough to be rescued and brought to DVGRR where she was able to work with the team in Project Home Life, an award winning program developed by DVGRR to acclimate dogs to life outside a cage/puppy mill. Carlee is now a happy 10 year old Golden Retriever who loves going on Therapy Dog visits to our local nursing care facility.

These are only my 3 dogs, there are countless families with similar stories, all possible due to Delaware Golden Retriever Rescue. Even through the pandemic, the staff found ways to work on rotating schedules and never missed taking care of the dogs, working to get dogs adopted, and taking in dogs in need. Sometimes 60+ dogs needing daily care and attention with a limited staff and no volunteers able to pitch in due to restrictions.

DVGRR has the most dedicated staff, board of directors, and team of volunteers. The dogs always, always come first.

The best. Incredible people helping dogs in need. They have created the most amazing environment for dogs with a variety of issues to receive the medical, behavioral, educational and social attention they need. Add the care and love. It's a wonder any of them ever want to leave.

I'm a volunteer, donor and adopter of 3 amazing dogs.

We have adopted 3 dogs from DVGRR, Carlee a former puppy mill breeder, shy at first but she has become a silly, loving affectionate dog. She is training to become a therapy dog and also does Kanine Nosework to help build her confidence and because it is fun! We adopted Dudley, a 4 month old mini Goldendoodle, he was to be euthanized but DVGRR rescued him, fixed his hernia and Duddy has gone on to become a "do it all" dog. At 4 years he has titles in Rally, Dance, Parkour, Agility and Trick Dog. He is my guardian and delight. We recently adopted 11 week old Trooper, a tripod puppy that had his left rear leg amputated, once again DVGRR stepped in to save his life. Trooper is now 7 months, growing like a weed and has no trouble keeping up with his sisters or little brother. The incredible dedication, work, care and love that all the staff and volunteers give to the dogs is beyond words. They continue to expand the meaning of "rescue", set new parameters and continue to educate the community. I am very proud to volunteer and support DVGRR. They are simply the best, just ask my 3 wonder dogs and their mentor, she loves DVGRR too!
