Review for Community Food Connections Inc, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Community Food Connections seeks to improve the nutrition and health of all Phoenix, AZ residents and make fresh foods available to those who typically have limited access. They source all their food locally, providing a market for small growers and have enabled over 100 small businesses to flourish with very minor startup costs. Additionally they are active in the Farm to School program for AZ as well as in low income communities around the Phoenix area where they educate people on how to grow food in a sustainable way in a dryland environment

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I purchase produce and dairy exclusively from CFC's outdoor market. It's local, it's delicious and it supports not only CFC but all the small business owners who gather there. I've also sold excess produce at their Community Exchange Table.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Grow it's many beneficial programs so that it could reach even more people. They need more volunteers and more unrestricted funding in order to make sure they continue to grow.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the festive environment and the feeling of local community.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

diverse, exceptional and always having a good time.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

spread it's mission around the city more effectively and build community around healthy eating and support of the local economy.

Ways to make it better...

....it doesn't get any better!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of unrestricted funding to make sure that key staff are adequately paid and to hire a few more helpers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Cindy Gentry rocks!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  General Member of the Public & benefited from the great produce. I've also sold excess produce at the Community Exchange Table.
