We have adopted 2 dogs thru Paws for Seniors! Lady, who was an Aussie Shepherd was adopted because we had to put to sleep our other dog! She became a WONDERFUL companion to our Husky, Josie who lived to be 16! Regretfully, we had to put Lady to sleep as she developed throat cancer. We put Josie & Lady Over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge together! That same day, we went to Stafford, Va to adopt Susie! Brenda & Jim set it up for us! We brought Susie home to be a companion to my sister's dog, Emeril (who couldn't make it up her stairs anymore). I just had to send Emeril Over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge in June. My roommate committed suicide at the end of May 2021, and without my Susie, I can't IMAGINE the pain & depression I might have worse! I'm telling my stories on here, not for sympathy, but to let people know that Senior dogs are the BEST! They've got life experience (which is sometimes painful), but all they really want/ need is LOVE 💘, just like humans. They make the BEST companions and LOVE unconditionally. What Brenda & Jim do is one of the most wonderful jobs for humankind ! The amount of time and $ they put in can NEVER be compensated! We NEED the LOVE and support of companions right now! I sincerely hope that it you have a problem with what they do, you'll adopt a Senior pet and I PROMISE you'll never complain again! Love 💘 YOU both Brenda & Jim! Hugs, Carrie

UPDATE! SO, in early 2018, Josie was 16 and Lady had throat cancer at 14. The Vet was kind enough to let us send the girls over the rainbow bridge together. We had also adopted my sisters dog, Emeril as he was too old to go up and down their stairs, so that meant HE would be alone and Emeril had never been without a companion dog! So, we called Brenda/ Jim and they had just received a call the day before about a Senior gal named Susie down in Stafford. We went straight away and adopted Susie who is with us, Emeril and our 4 Senior cats and 1 stray cat we found as a kitten last year! We've had Emeril and Susie now for 3 years. They are both 13, have medical needs, but we LOVE them dearly! Needless to say, God sent Brenda/ Jim to us in our Josie and Emeril's time of need! I can't think of any other way these adoptions could possibly have happened at the very moment we needed them to! I sincerely hope you will consider adopting/ donating or Volunteering for these very special people! The 1st picture is Josie/ Lady together, the 2nd picture is the day we brought Susie home and the 3rd picture is Emeril, Susie's best friend!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

ABSOLUTELY NONE!

We originally had 3 dogs, a chow/shepherd (13.5 yrs. old when she passed), a husky/ shepherd mix (she's 16.5 yrs. old now, named Josie) and a border collie/ chow mix (he was 13 yrs. old named Buddy). Mandy passed away 4 years ago, she was the oldest of the 3 and the "Mom". Buddy passed away 3 years ago and he was the youngest (the protector). The VERY NEXT DAY after we had to send Buddy over the Rainbow Bridge, we went to Paws for Seniors and adopted our Lady (aussie shepherd) She seems to be a mixture in personality of both of the dogs we lost. We truly feel that Brenda/ Jim knew exactly what we needed to help Josie (the middle child) thru her own heartache. Lady had just arrived at Paws a couple of days before! Lady just turned 13 and though we got her at 10, she is just as much a part of our family as if she had been here all 13 years!! Sorry for the long story, but it all needs to be told so you can understand how much we truly care about Paws for Seniors and the work they do!!
