Review for Payatas Mission Outreach Inc, Riverside, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am Rev John J Wilson aka "Pastor Jack" This is an updated view since the one written last year. As you know we opened the Payatas Baptist Health care and made a big difference in the lives of the poor for a little less than a year however lack of funding caused us to shut down the operation.
We still minister to the people of Payatas. We especially try to minister to the children. We continue to bring them to camp. We brought 65 again this year. We have our one week Vacation Bible School for about 100 children. Our Christmas party went well feeding and sharing the word, giving gifts and having a wonderful time.
However the struggle continues and the funds allow us to do as much as we do and no more.
Type in Pastor Jack Payatas into Google or Yahoo and you can see the things that God has allowed us to do. Imagine if we had the tools to do more.
I just read someone was depressed because they no longer could take their family out to their ritual Saturday night out. Here they get depressed when they can not feed their family at any given time.
This place is worse than Africa and Haiti except that we don't have Oprah or Danny Glover or Franklin Graham coming here to champion the cause.
When Typhoon Ondoy struck last year, hundreds of thousands were on their own.
Our desire is to train the youth for their future. We do it on a small scale and it's measurable and working. With the funding we could turn Payatas around. That's up to the reader.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

We had some students working on their thesis come to interview our children. They were amazed at the difference between the children to whom we minister and other children in Payatas. Our children have hope and direction and willingness to do what it take to grow where others have no hope and lack of desire.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Build the compound allowing us to reach more children, educationally as well as feeding and providing nurture that they don't get at home. I would have a vehicle to transport them back and forth so the little ones would have no fear of molestation and being abducted as such is the case in this place. I would have a computer room with a dozen computers and teachers to help the college bound and others to research the job market and help them to prepare for the higher goals in that market.

Role:  Board Member & I spent the last five years changing the minds of these children. They went from hoping to work on the garbage trucks to aspiring to be doctors, police, teachers... We fed them, clothed them, and have given them much training and more hope for a brighter .

Review for Payatas Mission Outreach Inc, Riverside, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The story of Payatas Mission Outreach is a simple one. We help the poor and indigent people of Payatas one of the poorest places in the Philippines. I am not so sure anyone outside of the slums of Payatas could write a review for us. We recently opened Payatas Baptist Health Care, Inc. A not for profit health clinic that offers free medical examinations. The people are being diagnosed and healed or referred. People who probably would not have sought medical attention if they had to pay. Not because they are cheap but because they are poor. To get an idea of how we help people go to our photos at http://escobia225.multiply.com/ to see for yourself.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The overall health care of the Payatas, Philippines community.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase it's funding

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I am making a difference in lives that are hurting and just need a leg up to change their lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Loving, caring , professional

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build a hospital, stock it with modern equipment, save many lives and change many more.

Ways to make it better...

Our Organization would get the proper funding so we could have better medical equipment.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Lack of funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

With or without money we WILL make a difference.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
