The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County is a comprehensive non-profit that assists the community in several different ways. This progressive shelter is innovative in reaching the community by various programs such as "Believe Me When I Tell". This highly visible program helped generate awareness for all ages regarding sexual assault/abuse of children. The Crisis Shelter not only has several programs; it also reaches various geographical areas. Some of these services can be found on-line with individuals ready to help through a "chat" type of system at all times. These "chats" will give information to individuals that are potential victims. The progression through technology, counseling services and education to all ages and gender lines makes this program invaluable to the community.
