We are incredibly fortunate to have lions on our urban edge here in Northern California. Felidae’s Bay Area Puma Project is essential to help sustain this population. I have been a volunteer for many years involved with camera tracking, research and educational efforts. The team is experienced, deeply committed and effective in helping protect our lions.

Felidae/Bay Area Puma Project (BAPP) is truly dedicated to help our local puma population. They not only educate our communities but also engage local people to help monitor puma activity. This is so important as there is a lot of misinformation about pumas - especially on social media like NextDoor. So having local people to help is critical! Felidae stays focused on the science and getting accurate data. I love checking cameras - really gives me hope to see the amazing wildlife in our Bay Area backyard. Felidae also did a great zoom series this year on our local pumas and other wild cats around the world.

Felidae is doing very important work to conserve our puma populations in the San Francisco Bay area. Surprisingly little is known about our local mountain lion populations and it is critical we develop a model to co-exist on the edge of our urban environments. The Felidae team is knowledgeable, deeply committed and well connected to the community. They work collaboratively with many organizations to overcome challenges and develop win-win solutions for humans and pumas. There also are many wonderful ways volunteers can get involved to help.
