My neighbor showed up at my doorstep in tears. She said that Blackino was very ill and seemed to be dying. Blackino was the alpha cat in our local community cat colony. He was very outgoing and friendly and had won the hearts of all that had come to know him and especially my neighbor's heart. Blackino had been neutered long ago courtesy of Cannoli Fund but I had no idea whether the Fund could help with euthanasia. A quick Google and then a quick written plea had a response in a jiffy. I found out that, yes, Cannoli Fund could help with this. I was directed to an animal hospital that was able to see him the very next morning despite that being Sunday morning. When I went to pick up Blackino, not only my tearful neighbor was ready to go but another neighbor joined in and together we went and received the news that Blackino was in major renal failure and that it was time to say goodbye. Our neighbor trio together made the decisions on next steps along the way. Cannoli Fund made it possible for us to do the right thing by Blackino. In this particular situation, it was especially important that Blackino's suffering did not have to be prolonged and also witnessed along the way. We will always be most grateful for the Cannoli Fund!
