Review for Brain Injury Resource Center Of Wisconsin, Waukesha, WI, USA
I co-founded the Brain Injury Resource Center of Wisconsin, Inc. with my Mom, Lois York-Lewis, in 2011. Our goal is to offer assistance and provide resources to people who are living with the consequences of brain injury.
HOW DO WE DO IT = INFORM + EDUCATE + SELF-ADVOCATE
Our passion for this organization comes from a personal experience with brain injury. On June 17, 2005 I sustained a severe traumatic brain injury from a collision between the car I was riding in and a semi-truck. Having to start all over from square one was very difficult, but I would not be where I am today if it weren't for my Mom and my amazing family. When I was truly broken they fixed me up and helped me collect the pieces of my life and put it back together.
I am now married and the mother of a beautiful little boy. Very few thought that this would be possible, but I have always rose to a challenge and brain injury has been the biggest challenge of my life, but I am very pleased with the out come :)
