I wish to express my displeasure, anger, disappointment and confusion about the questionable actions by some of your staff.

This past weekend; my family and I attended the pet adoption event at the Sunrise Village PetSmart. We had found and were ready to adopt two (2) cats at this event. My wife and daughter spent considerable time with each of the two animals; who quickly warmed to our family.

During the process of completing/screening the Cat Adoption Applications; the young woman who was doing the screening; treated me with a great deal of disrespect and condescension.

I was questioned; although it felt more like an interrogation. I provided honest responses to all but one question; the question concerning our intent to declaw the animals. I never said whether or not we would declaw the animals; rather I stated this would be a decision made on a wide variety of information but had not made either way. The line of questions and attitude of this woman were completely unprofessional and discourteous. I felt as though I had been pre-judged by this woman and regardless of my answers to her questions; she had no intention of approving our applications.

Additionally, the interrogation about whether the cats would be indoor or outdoor took an ugly tone. We have been loving parents to several cats for almost 30 years. We have always kept them indoors but will let them run in our fenced-in backyard with supervision.
They are not let out to roam freely. This also seemed to irritate the woman conducting the interrogation.

I was informed; after a lengthy interrogation; that we would not be approved to adopt ever from your organization due to your stated policy against declawing cats. I am having a very difficulty time finding this policy statement anywhere. It is not on the adoption form. It is not stated on any of your public/social media sites. It was not displayed anywhere on-site yesterday.

It appears to me that this woman blatantly and deliberately lied to me, in an effort to support her own personal biases. I found her behavior and conduct highly suspect, discriminatory and quite unprofessional.
