Review for Give A Note Foundation, Reston, VA, USA
Imagine an elementary music classroom without recorders, a middle school choir without sheet music, or a high school marching band without uniforms. Students everywhere are seeing their passion being cut from the curriculum as art programs continue to lose funding. The sad reality of the public education system of America is forcing advocates to step up and become champions of children and their right to a quality education.
At the University of Central Missouri, a group of 50 college students are utilizing their love of music to raise money for schools who can not provide music education resources to their students. The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) chapter at UCM has partnered with the Give a Note Foundation to support music education in under served regions throughout the United States. As future music educators, this cause is fueled by their passion. The money they raise goes to writing grants for schools that cannot provide valuable music resources to their students.
The UCM NAfME Chapter has one goal throughout this service project: to bring the music back into the lives of students. As active musicians, they recognize how important the role of accessing quality music education has played in shaping their lives. Not only have music programs instilled a life-long love of the arts, they have also helped define their identity. Through collecting money from the community surrounding UCM, as well as the faculty in the UCM Music Department, the students have managed to reach their goal of collecting $500 for the Give a Note Foundation. Even though they have reached their goal, they plan to continue to fight for quality music education programs for all students.
With your help, we can support quality music programs for every student, every school, and every community. With the donations we collect, we will strive for the sounds of children creating music to echo in every classroom, down every hallway, and through every school. Thank you for your consideration to support this worthwhile non-profit.
