5 yrs ago we saw 2 dachshunds advertised at YHS as being auctioned off that weekend. We were one of many who were there to bid on them but several people wanted to bid on them separately. The staff decided to auction them as a pair because they were so bonded. This left only 3 of us who stayed to bid and we were the lucky winners. I thought that this was so compassionate of the staff to truly put the emotional welfare of the dogs first even though it was risky and perhaps they would have even had made more money from auctioning them off separately. They had us bring our alpha dog back for a meet and greet and when that went well, we all went home. We also adopted 2 feral cats through their barn cat program. Both cats became lap cats and follow us around like the dogs. The staff were all warm and friendly. They made the adoption process amazing! We love YHS!
