Rural, Mountain Marylanders worked with FWA to help secure the first legislative fracking ban in a state with proven shale gas reserves. FWA is one of the very few environmental organizations which firmly anchors public policy in science. Our six years of working on campaigns together built important working relationships among public health professionals and community health activists, particularly those whose voices are often under appreciated. Don't Frack Maryland campaign:
As a coalition partner (with health professionals), we worked with FWW on the first legislative ban in a state with frackable gas!!! Of the many coalition partners, FWW staff consistently maintained an uncompromising vision, based in the reality that there can be no compromise position on stopping fossils fuels. Period. And they serve it up straight. Thank you, FWW!
Thank you, also, to our neighbors, PA and WV, on whose backs much of the environmental health research was produced and which was critical in our successful campaign. FWW knew and respected this ever-growing body of documented harms to public health and the environment, and in this, they were exemplary.
