Review for Compassion & Choices, Littleton, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Compassion & Choices is THE national end-of-life choices organization. I have been a donor for many years and continue to be impressed with the creative and excellent work of the organization. C&C uses every tool possible to get its message of choice to the public, government officials and its members. This last year alone they passed a law in California, won a court case in Montana and passed a ballot measure in the state of Washington. On the client side, the care is supportive and responsive. C&C has helped pave the way for people across the country to know and exercise their choices at the end of life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...changing laws to support better end of life care, and provide education to the general public about their choices and rights at the end of life.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

...have a national marketing campaign to get the word out.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

C&C has challenged me to look more broadly at end of life care and the need for care, support and advocacy for the dying.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

...committed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...help create laws across the country to assure the best end of life care and the most choices for individuals.

Ways to make it better...

...I had gotten to know the issue earlier in my life so that I could have help educate more people.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

...the lack of government officials to follow the majority of the US population who supports aid in dying for mentally competent adults who have six months or less to live.

One thing I'd also say is that...

...talk about your end of life plans, no matter how young or old you are. Don't be a Terri Schiavo!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Donor & I support the organization financially and speaking publicly.
