Review for Wounded Warrior Homes Inc, San Marcos, CA, USA
Wounded Warrior Homes, not to be confused with Wounded Warrior Project, is a homegrown charity that provides post 9/11 PTSD and brain-injured veterans with transitional housing, services and resources and has been doing so in North San Diego County for almost 12 years. We discovered WWH some 7-8 years ago and were impressed with its mission and that it was meeting its mission via three homes, serving these veterans while assisting them with their transition back into the community. This all was begun by a local couple who wanted to make a difference, and that is what they are doing. My husband and I have been active in their efforts ever since and have become donors as well.

Wounded Warrior Homes is a homegrown success story. From two persons determined to assist post 911 brain-injured and PTSD veterans little more than 10 years ago to today, a highly successful entity that offers transitional housing and services to those same veterans. Wounded Warrior Homes recently expanded its reach to include female veterans with the same issues. In addition, WWH stocks a food closet for any military member/family in need. WWH receives no government funding. Funds are raised locally and regionally, including via it's very popular annual golf tournament and various regional fundraising events. My husband and I learned about Wounded Warrior Homes some eight years ago. And since then, it has become the beneficiary of our classic/muscle car club's annual car show—and we personally continue to support it through our own donations of funds and food stuffs, also volunteering at the WWH golf tournament each year. Founders/Directors Mia and Steve Roseberry are an amazing can-do couple!

Our experience with Wounded Warrior Homes is as observers first, and then so impressed that we have become donors through the last 5-6 years. Wounded Warrior Homes is not to be confused with Wounded Warrior Project, and is not associated with it. This is a homegrown nonprofit, created to provide transitional housing and support services to post 9/11 veterans suffering from PTSD and brain injuries. It's financial support comes via individual donors, businesses and corporations and private grants. Since it's inception some 10 years ago, Wounded Warrior Homes has acquired and improved three homes—an incredible accomplishment in the high-priced San Diego housing market. Each home can serve four of these vets, many of whom went from family homes into the service and now must try to not only deal with their injuries acquired in service to our country, but must try to find their way as an adult in a world they often do not recognize, or at the least have no experience in. Wounded Warrior Homes not only provides transitional housing, but also operates a food pantry, not only for their resident veterans, but open to any local military family needing food in these pandemic times. WWHomes also provides support and resources for these vets, helping them to become productive members able to work and live on their own—and its success stories are many.

For several years, my husband and I have been supporters of and donors to Wounded Warrior Homes, a San Diego-based grassrooms and volunteer-based organization that serves our active-duty military personnel who suffer from PTSD and/or traumatic brain injuries. WWH provides long-term transitional housing for up to 2 years, along with support services, via transitional plans individualized for each injured veteran WWH serves. LIFE--Living Independently For Ever--is WWH's goal. Many of our injured active-duty members can't move home, either because their family is far away and/or because there aren't the necessary medical and care services available to them there. Too many of these injured service members would end up among the homeless, except for WWH. There are a number of "wounded warrior" programs out there. This one is in San Diego and is grassroots-based and all-volunteer. Please consider supporting this incredible program, where your funds definitely help those who have put their lives on the line for us.
