I participated with a volunteer group that was organized by my employer to assist the B&GC for a few hours one afternoon as groups of kids rotated through several fun, hands-on activity stations. The task for my station was to build the tallest possible tower with jelly beans and toothpicks. Wow! I saw first-hand a wonderful blend of creativity, competition, and excitement from the youngsters. The assigned staff-persons exemplified a wonderful blend of loving support, wise counsel, and firm discipline as needed when unfavorable behaviors got excessive. I was quite impressed how the B&GC personnel so carefully channeled those youthful energies into such constructive results. This experience made me proud and confirmed my recent choice to be a B&GC board member.
