Review for Assistance League of the Bay Area, Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

In 2000, I joined Assistance League to work alongside my mother in law and my children who were members of the Assisteens auxiliary over a period of 10+ years. My kids are grown and my mother in law, who continues to be a voting member, can no longer actively volunteer. I've stayed active because of the friendships I've made. Serving my community is an added bonus!

All volunteer organization transforming lives through community programs. Monies raised stay in the community. Here's one example of members in action - providing homeless students in Texas City ISD with an extra meal during the school day.

Assistance League of the Bay Area is an all volunteer, nonprofit in the Houston Bay Area community. I have been volunteering for this organization for 20 years so I have personally witnessed the enormous impact the organization has had in the area. By providing much needed school clothing, hygiene products, nutritional support, eye and dental exams, as well as prom attire, Assistance League makes a difference in student's lives and ability to stay successfully enrolled in school. Monies are raised through a successful Resale Shop, vibrant grant committee and annual fundraising event. Donations are always welcomed.

To know and work with the members of this organization is to watch selflessness in action. In the midst of tragedy, members got to work hand in hand to assist the community. As Hurricane Harvey wrecked havoc on our area and our lives, members can be seen volunteering in every capacity until the organization's own programs are back up and running. Doesn't matter if they personally suffered through the storm or not, it is in their nature to give back and help change lives.
