Review for COMPASS For Youth, Chatsworth, CA, USA
COMPASS for Youth is an incredible organization that touches the lives of young people across the greater Los Angeles area. I volunteer with them as a community college representative. During my time as a volunteer I presented to youth in group homes the process of enrolling in community college and helped provide tips for navigating the sometimes confusing process of transferring to the University of California system. There is nothing more fulfilling then demonstrating that college can be accessible to youth who are often made to feel they are not good enough for academia. What COMPASS does is simple- they guide youth in need through the confusing bureaucratic hoops of academic life in California, lighting a passion for learning and providing them with long term sustainable self-permanence. During my presentations I also spoke with the staff of the group homes in which the kids lived and they were always so incredibly grateful that a service like COMPASS finally existed because no one else is doing this work! The cherry on top of all of this is the staff of COMPASS is amazing! Everyone there is beyond passionate about what they do and believes that each and every student they help has the potential for academic greatness. I am planning to continue to give my time and resources to this greatly needed organization and I strongly suggest you do the same!
