My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for The Koinonia Foundation, Inc., Alexandria, VA, USA
I had the most horrible experience with the people at this organization. Their mission statement is to treat people with dignity. That's far from what they did. In fact, I left there humiliated after the receptionist was rude to me in front of other people in the waiting room and yelled at me. She was very condescending and hostile. When I spoke with the Social Worker about my experience and behavior, she was sorry I "felt that way" . If you are at a low point, or need assistance or depressed, definitely don't go to this place. Despite it being listed nowhere on their website or anywhere on the internet, the receptionist scolded me that "we don't take walk-ins and we don't do same day appointments". I explained to her that I was not aware of that and she flippantly said well you should have known that because that's been our policy for a long time. Well, again, that policy is not listed ANYWHERE! She treated me like I was beneath her, despite the fact that I have donated funds to their organization in the past and didn't need an appointment for them to take my check donation. These people showed no compassion or kindness. Just mean. Beware. I will never be returning or recommending anyone to go there and I also shared this experience with some agencies in our county. They were not surprised.
