Review for Food & Water Action, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been part of Food and Water Watch through their launch of the sister Action Fund. And I have to say that their impact is remarkable, to my mind. A lot of other little groups locally flail around and while they do good work, they could be doing so much more. Food & Water Action Fund is one of those rare and spectacular exceptions, where I find it hard to believe how much they manage with so little. They are good at coordinating their volunteers. They happily take feedback to improve. They offer excellent training and then utilize their volunteers for maximum impact.

And personally, I don't have time to research every single candidate for every office, sometimes, so it really helps me to know when they've endorsed a candidate, that candidate is trying to make the world a safer place for people like me, and my step sons, all of whom struggle with autoimmune diseases.

Their kindness is endless, their positive attitude is infectious, and they inspire me to what is really possible through organizing. I am a proponent of permaculture ideas of care for planet and people as one unified cause, and these people are living that. They are amazingly good to their small staff, and their volunteers. They support each other's lives and needs personally, while they fight for these important causes as a movement. They really understand that healing for our planet cannot come without emotional care for each other. They are well worth your donations, and doing an amazing amount with every dollar you can give. I have found no better coordinated volunteer effort in all my exposure to non-profits.

Review for Food & Water Watch, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have struggled with a lifetime of health issues. And as I researched and understood those problems, I discovered how much food and climate were an ongoing part of why so many people are chronically sick. As I managed to improve my health, and begin looking for ways to get involved in the fight, I found Food and Water Watch. It was a natural fit. I slowly got more involved in the local chapter, and became a regular volunteer. I also participate in various other groups for political change, and I think that more than any other group, I see these amazing people represented at events all over town, fighting for a sane and healthy planet.

I love their distributed work to volunteers model. I end up suggesting their tools and methods to other groups all over town in fighting for change. I couldn't be more impressed with using a little money to do an incredible amount. And I don't think I have seen a group whose impact is greater around town.

And on top of all that, they're just the nicest people ever. When you do something amazing for them, they share ideas for how to use that talent in other aspects of life. For example, I did a painting for them, and they were impressed, so they just started sharing with me places they knew of around town that sometimes allow artists to show their work, in the hope that it would increase my happiness and success. Their kindness is amazing, and working with them gives me hope for those of us who have struggled with the illness that comes of our unhealthy world.
