Review for Mothers Against Brain Injury Inc, St. Johns, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Our son suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a car accident 2/23/2009. During his second night at the hospital, my wife and I were presented with a tote bag filled with various comfort items and two books containing valuable information regarding the brain and what to expect during recovery and rehabilitation. We were also informed that Mothers Against Brain Injury Inc (MABII) was a locally founded and operated organization. As our son's recovery progressed, founder Tracy Porter called me a couple of times to check on his progress and to offer support. We also became Facebook friends and I've been able to keep up with MABII's efforts. Tracy is a person who is driven to assist families of TBI victims/survivors in the early stages of the injury and to provide information to the general public in hopes of reducing the frequency of TBI. She has done all of this during the course of her own son's 6-year recovery from TBI which makes her all the more remarkable. This is an organization whose outreach lets families know that they are not alone when a TBI strikes a loved one.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

connecting with a network of TBI families and learning from the experience of others.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the personal interaction with the organization's founder and the ability to learn from the experiences of others.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

outstanding, motivated individuals.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide its tangible services of comfort and hope to the families of traumatic brain injury patients in just about all of the U.S.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
