My mom started volunteering for Dogs on Deployment here in Florida, three years ago. I knew what they did but having a toddler it was hard for me to fit it into my schedule. I grew up volunteering because of my mom, she volunteered at my school and extracurricular activities all my life. This was something she demanded we do. She always told us girls, You must give back to your community, not just for others but for yourself, I now know exactly what she was trying to convey. Now, my daughter is now 6 and I have been volunteering for the last year and a half! I have found that when I explain what we do to help, it fills me full of joy. The relief I see in military members faces when I explain about the boarding may be one of the most fulfilling site. I have found a nationwide family that believes in what I believe in, supporting our Military and loving pets. Although, my mom lives 6 hours away, Thanks mom for being a good example.
