First and foremost I want to say that Michelle and Chris and New GateWay Solutions have been a huge Blessing! One of the biggest by far in my life. Their organization has helped take me out of a very, very difficult time in my life. My mom, my daughter and I where homeless the beginning of 2017. We were living from hotel to hotel, friends’ houses and family houses, anywhere we could to stay safe until we could save up enough money to get our own place again. A lot of times having to be separated from my mom due to not being able to find shelter for all of us.
Being 23 and my daughter being an infant less than a year old, I was hoping there would be programs to help single parents like myself. I reached out to government assistance and different homeless organizations and NOBODY would help me because I was receiving unemployment…..which only covered the expenses of my shelter and food for my daughter and for her needs like diapers formula etc. So everyone thought I was making enough money to survive when really I was surviving on the couple of dollars I had after paying my necessities. This by far wasn’t enough at all. So due to that I couldn't save enough money to get us into a permanent housing. In order for that I would need the rent and full deposit. It was really stressful being without a home and trying to be the best mom to my daughter ever. But I did it.
It was a long road until one day I received a message after sending several emails out to the Rock church for help. Someone replied back to me with some resources and forwarded me to Michelle John’s email. Michelle John wanted to meet with me the next day in her office to discuss ways to help. My heart filled with joy. Just the word HELP made me smile and feel joyful. I met with Michelle and her husband the next day. There they learned more about my story. They asked me all my needs and ways they could help me out right away. They let me know that they were here for me for anything and they wanted to help me get all my resources together to get my life back together for myself and my daughter. After writing everything down they were on it! Right away they helped me out with a gas card, food and diapers then they set it up for me to come pick it up bi-weekly for my daughter and me. They also help me out with childcare and school.
Within a few weeks of meeting them they also set me up with a women’s group who donated me a deposit to move into my first apartment! The biggest blessing ever! My struggle would finally be coming to an end of being homeless because of the help both Michelle and Chris’s organization, New GateWay Solutions, has provided me with. After getting my keys to my apartment with the help of them again they reached out to a man who gathered furniture for my whole apartment! Really cool stuff that met all my needs! They also set me up with an organization for clothes for my daughter and me! Words can’t even explain how they have changed my life. I am so blessed to have met them and for all the help they have given me and more. They have changed my daughter’s and my lives so much for the good.
Thank you so much for all the help given and love provided to us by you guys. You guys are amazing! One day I can’t wait to pay the appreciation forward to someone else in need like I was. Thank you New GateWay Solutions!
