Review for Forever Home Greyhound Adoptions, Middleburgh, NY, USA
After reading the previous review from 2014 I have to comment. I just adopted a Greyhound from this organization Forever Home Greyhound. I had the opposite experience with this group and a similar experience with other adoption groups.
I applied to two greyhound rescue groups based out of CT/ lower NY. Connecticut Greyhound Adoption responded very nicely by email and said the time is not right for me, they never picked up the phone to actually talk to me. Stating since my sister and her dog are staying with me for a few months it's not a good time. I told them in my application that I own more than one home, but like I said they never bothered to call me to discuss they just turned me down (If they spoke with me they would have found out that I just visit my sister at my CT home and live mainly in NY on a 200 acre property. I also own three dogs of my own, which includes two small ones. Since this was my first time applying to a grey group I thought well maybe they are right, maybe it has something to do with my little dogs and a greyhound. The other group I applied to greyhound rescue rehab never responded to my application. So I felt a little hurt because personally I though I wasn't a bad home, I love my dogs very much, they are my family and I will do anything to extend their lives for as long as possible. I don't have experience with greyhounds but I do with dog packs, I thought maybe it was because the group didn't have a good fit for my household, but after speaking in email I think it was becasue of me. Anyway so a few weeks later I decided to apply to Forever Home Greyhound, assuming I would get turned down. I was honest on my application about my other dogs and honest about who would fit best with my pack. The group called back for an interview and called my vets and references, I showed up at the meet and greet with all of my dogs, Paula brought out a dog and it just worked. The dog she picked for us is perfect! we love her so much, my dogs love her too. I am now considering getting a second greyhound from this group. I am thankful they did not waste my time, thankful they gave me a chance. I know it is a huge letdown to get rejected when you personally know that you can provide a great life for a greyhound and this will also allow the group to rescue/ rehome another. I think it worked out the way it should have because we love our adopted dog, thank you Paula and Martha.
