I attended VTS (on Camp Pendleton) when in-between planning to retire if not selected for next grade/rank. Fortunately, I was selected and promoted. I found that VTS was very helpful by hearing from veterans experience in the transition process, opportunities out there, and networking. The volunteers that provide information, training were very knowledgeable and helpful. I am now stationed at Camp Lejeune and I don't see as many transition training opportunities as the west coast.
