We took a team of 10 people to Guatemala with Mission Guatemala on May 27 - June 4, 2017. We had a fabulous experience that exceeded our expectations. Mission Guatemala has their act together. Not only did they have things setup to take the best care of our team in terms of safe water, heathy and delicious food, wonderful accommodations, but they also have done wonderful things in the community. It is fantastic that they have been able to develop services such as medical, dental and eye clinics, but they have also established social programs in the schools. What impressed us the most was the relationships and connections that Mission Guatemala has with the local people. Many of their employees, including the doctor, our guide and translators, the worksite leader and workers, our cooks, etc. are all local people that are now tightly connected and employed by Mission Guatemala. Additionally, they offer their employees the opportunity to obtain a college education - several of them have completed their degrees and others are in the process of doing so. The country and people of Guatemala are so wonderful - we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Though we did do about 5 days of physical work, our whole team felt we got much more out of the experience that we gave back. We hope and plan to return as soon as possible!
