My horse was stolen from the pasture and a friend suggested that I go onto Stolen Horse International (netposse.com) online right away for help. I consider myself a fairly savvy horseperson: I had ID photos of my horse from all angles, kept paperwork handy such as proof of ownership and registration papers, and had my horse microchipped. But getting that call that my horse was gone is something I will never forget… my first thought was “what do I do next?” There was so much to do and it was hard to think straight! SHI was incredible – with the pictures I had they created a flyer and posted it on social media (and kept updating it from missing to stolen as new information came up), and posted notices on the internet when the story made the news… and that was just for starters! But most of all, it was the calm advice and helpful information and resources from people who know what to do next that helped me to stay focused. Fortunately, my horse was returned after 2 days, and I cannot thank SHI enough for all of their help. It is a wonderful organization with amazing people!
